Winter Skincare Routine
Ever since I started going to the spa with my mum, I’ve started to pay more attention to what I put on my face. I wouldn’t necessarily call my skincare routine ‘stable’ as I do it when I feel like it, rather than every day. But during the winter I feel I need to do it more often and have a set winter skincare routine, as my skin gets drier and tighter during colder months.
Winter Skincare Routine
Here are my go-to products. As you’ll see, I’m a big Clarins and REN product user. Because I have sensitive skin I have tried many products and their products are the best for me and my skin type.
Clarins Cleansing Milk with Alpine Herbs, Anti-Pollution
It’s always great to start the day with a cleanse and this product is great because it’s anti-pollution. I live in London so pollution is a big deal for my skin – although not so much now I’m not commuting. This also removes my makeup, so if there is anything left from the day before it clears that away too. Plus it makes my skin feel so soft and clean.
Clarins Extra-Comfort Toner with Aloe Vera
I’m actually very sensitive to Aloe Vera, but this toner works for me and smells amazing! This toner is focused on hydrating my skin, and it removes any excess cleanser that could leave my skin greasy.
REN Evercalm Global Protection Day Cream
I use this as my moisturiser, as well as my day-to-day skin protection from pollution. It’s gentle on the skin and doesn’t leave a greasy residue which I hate that you get from most high-street moisturisers.
LUSH Mint Julips Lip Scrub
I get dry lips, particularly in winter. This lip scrub is everything! Plus it tastes amazing. My lips feel smooth and lipstick applies really easily after I put it on.
That’s all I do in the mornings before I put on my make-up. I need to get a product with SPF in, as I know that this is important and since I don’t wear foundation I can’t get a cosmetic with SPF protection built in. But that’s for another time.
For the evening, I use slightly different products from the ones above.
REN Evercalm Cleansing Milk
I remove my make-up with Simple biodegradable wipes and then use the REN cleansing milk to remove the rest – if I remember. If I’m too tired from a day of work I tend to skip this step. But it’s good when I remember as my skin stays hydrated overnight.
Clarins Gentle Exfoliator and Brightening Toner
In the evening, as much as I can I use this gentle exfoliator because it effectively does two things. It exfoliates and tones my skin. It’s really refreshing and has a little scent so it’s not distracting when I’m trying to fall asleep.
And that’s what I put on my skin. I’m sure there are tricks I am missing, I don’t use an eye cream for one. But this is what I feel comfortable with at the moment.
