Upcoming Greek Myth Retellings I Want to Read
Everyone that has read my blog for a year or so will know that I love Greek Myth retellings, they regularly appear on my TBR and reading wrap-ups. Ever since I realised my love for them I’ve kept up to date with all of the upcoming greek myth retellings that publishing has to offer. Here is my current list.
Medusa by Jessie Burton
Out in October, this is a greek myth retelling of Medusa. Filled with illustrations and reclaiming the myth of Medusa for the feminist age, I’m looking forward to getting a hard copy of this greek myth retelling.
Elektra by Jennifer Saint
Out April 2022. I read Jennifer’s debut greek myth retelling Ariadne a few months ago and enjoyed it. I particularly love when writers take on the stories of underrepresented Greek heroines. This is why I’m thrilled that Jennifer is tackling Elektra next. Elektra is the daughter of Clytemnestra and Agamemnon, who plots to kill Clytemnestra as revenge for killing her father upon his return from Troy.
Argo by Mark Knowles
Out in November. This is more of an action-packed myth retelling focusing on the myth of Jason and the Golden Fleece aboard the Argo. Mark Knowles is a Cambridge classicist so he knows his stuff, as such I’m expecting good things.
Antigone by Hollie McNish
Out October 2021. I performed in Antigone at school and always enjoyed the story of morals. Hollie McNish has re-written the classic to show the comparisons of the ancient story to the modern-day. I’m looking forward to finding the links in this upcoming greek myth retelling.
Pandora by Susan Stokes-Chapman
Out January 2022. This greek myth retelling is set in the Georgian era in London and follows a character who receives an ancient greek vase that contains a multitude of secrets and horrors inside.
What upcoming Greek Myths retellings are you looking forward to? Any I missed? Let me know in the comments below.
