TikTok Books I Want To Read in 2022

Top tip for readers if you’re easily distracted, don’t join TikTok. I’ve forgotten what it used to be like to go to bed and read a book. Now I’m too busy scrolling on BookTok and finding more TikTok books to add to my to-be-read list! Oh, the irony.

Today I thought I would share some of the TikTok books I want to read in 2022. These are the books that are everywhere on the platform and I want to see what the fuss is all about.

The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood

I recently purchased The Love Hypothesis in paperback as it was only £3 on Amazon. This is the book that seems to be creating the most waves on TikTok lately and I don’t know why. It’s a straightforward enemies-to-lovers romance, set in a science lab. But apparently, it’s an easy, romantic read that can be read in a day. Challenge accepted!

The Hating Game by Sally Thorne

When I wasn’t well recently I ended up watching the film adaptation of The Hating Game at 4 am. And I loved it! I started the book a few months ago and I got 20% in but got bored. But now I know that I was just about to reach the spicy bit and I want to jump right back in.

On Earth, We’re Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong

I’ve heard a lot of amazing things about On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous. This is a literary novel written in letter format, with the protagonist writing letters to his mother. We find out early on that these letters will never be read by his mother, as she is illiterate, which is precisely why he’s writing them. He can tell her the truth about himself, without upsetting her. Apparently it’s very moving and I should have tissues ready.

You and Me on Vacation by Emily Henry

I read Beach Read by Emily Henry a few years ago and I really enjoyed it. It’s a simple, easy-read romance about writers. This story focuses on two friends on vacation, who by the end will realise that they love each other. I like the occasional happily-ever-after novel, so I look forward to one day relaxing with this read in the summer.

Last Night at the Telegraph Club by Malinda Lo

This is an LGBT, historical young adult novel about a lesbian nightclub, called The Telegraph Club. Set in the 1950s, when being gay was still a criminal and shameful act, this story focuses on female sexuality which is an exciting point of difference as there are not many historical LGBT novels that focus on women.

Red, White and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston

And finally, another LGBT romance. Red, White and Royal Blue follows the romance between the fictional Prince of England and the son of the President of the United States. Far-fetched and fabulous, a lot of my friends have recommended this book to me – plus TikTok readers love it! I’ve got the ebook and it’s moving up my TBR fast!
