We’re technically more than a quarter way through the year, but this is the Quarter Year Crisis Book Tag.

The Quarter Year Crisis Book Tag 2023

How many books have you read this year?

To date, I’ve read 25 books. I’m about 6 books behind schedule to meet my goal of reading 100 books a year.

Have you already found a book you think might be a 2023 favourite? If not, what was your favourite book you read that wasn’t quite five stars?

I think I might have a favourite! I read the Lockwood & Co series by Jonathan Stroud in January and February and whilst I can’t pick a favourite out of the five reads, I will say that the series is a new favourite.

Any 1 star books / least favourite book of the year?

I haven’t read any 1-star books as yet, but I have read a few 2 stars by my standard.

Most read genres so far?

As per, I’ve read quite a few children’s books this year. From my Harry Potter re-read to the Lockwood & Co series.

A book that surprised you?

Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus had so much hype, but sadly I didn’t love it. I wanted to, but I just couldn’t get into it. I felt 50% of the story had been ignored and I didn’t warm to Elizabeth Zott as others have.

A book that’s come out in 2023 already that you want to read but haven’t yet?

This one is easy. I’ve been looking forward to Rosewater by Liv Little for ages. I’ve bought a copy and I can’t wait to read it asap.

One goal you’re succeeding at?

I set the bookish resolution to read three books from three other countries. So far, I’ve read a book from France and another from Italy. I’ve got aims to read a book from Japan and Korea as well, so fingers crossed I’ll succeed with this goal.

One goal you need to focus on?

If I want to hit my goal of reading 100 books by the end of 2023 I definitely need to up the pace of my reading. My slump from 2022 continues, though I do have good weeks and bad.

And that’s the quarter year crisis book tag 2023. If you want to take part in this tag you can complete it via your blog, bookstagram or booktok. If you do let me know! I’d love to read your answers.
