The Book Blogger’s Confession Tag

I haven’t done a book tag in a few months, so I thought screw it. I’ve decided to do the Book Blogger’s Confession Tag. I feel like I have must completed this tag way back when, when my blog was called EllesBellesBookshelf. But that was over 5 years ago now!

Time to have another go. Let me know what you think of my confessions in the comment box below.

1. Which book, most recently, did you not finish?

Strangely, the book I haven’t finished most recently was Exciting Times by Naoise Dolan. I’m pretty sure that I’m going to go back and finish it at some point. But the fact that I read about 90 pages and then just put it down really tells me that it’s not going to be my favourite of the year.

2. Which book is your guilty pleasure?

I don’t know if it’s a guilty pleasure, per se, but I still read the Harry Potter books every summer without fail. For the most part, I now listen to audiobooks whilst working. But I also pick up the hardbacks on occasion as well.

3. Which book do you love to hate?

Atonement by Ian McEwan. I have read this book three times because I should like it. But I don’t. I hate it. Like quiche. It’s just not my thing at all. The writing is overdone and the characters are so unlikable that I can’t even like the fact that I don’t like them. It’s all infuriating and bleurgh. Not for me.

4. Which book would you throw into the sea?

Well, none. That would be bad for the environment. But metaphorically speaking, Mein Kampf, and anything Donald Trump has ever written.

5. Which book have you read the most?

Aside from the Harry Potter series, probably The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd or Birdsong by Sebastian Faulks. I’ve read those two at least three times each. I’ve read The Reader by Bernhard Schlink and The Hunger Games trilogy twice, so they come in joint third place.

6. Which book would you hate to receive as a present?

The Bible.

7.  Which book could you not live without?

I don’t think there’s any one book I could live without. For example, I love the Harry Potter series – but having one without the other six would be worst than just having one.

8. Which book made you the angriest?

Aside from Atonement – which made me more frustrated than angry, I suppose – probably, Why I No Longer Talk to White People About Race by Reni Eddo-Lodge. That book is meant to make you feel angry as that’s exactly what Reni Eddo-Lodge is and you can feel it in her powerful words.

9. Which book made you cry the most?

Stupid to admit but actually The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks. The little boy has to say goodbye to his dad for the last time and I was just a wreck. And I knew it was coming too!

10. Which book cover do you hate the most?

I hate some of the books covers for Dracula by Bram Stoker. It’s supposed to be the original horror, but that doesn’t mean the cover should be horrible.

If you want to take part in The Book Blogger’s Confession tag simply copy and paste the above and swap the answers out for your own. If you do, do it leave me a link in the comments below. I would love to read your answers.
