Productive Things To Do When Bored
Whilst you never have to be productive, if you’re sick of sitting on the sofa watching telly and are looking for productive things to do when bored then here are my top recommendations.
Clean out the fridge
When was the last time you properly cleaned the fridge? I mean cleaned the fridge… got everything out and scrubbed it to high heaven. I try and do it before my big monthly shop. When there is food in the fridge, I wipe down the fronts a lot, but even I know I don’t scrub down the back and the drawers enough. Also, I’m betting everyone reading this has at least one out-of-date item of food or drink in their fridge right now.
Not the most exciting task but do your laundry. Or if it’s done, fold your laundry. And if that’s done sort out your clothes! Review your wardrobe and decide if you want anything to go to charity, or try on that item of clothing you haven’t worn in a while to see if it still fits or sparks joy.
Plan next week
Make a plan! From deciding what you’re going to eat next week, to sorting out your social calendar, to planning a route or a to-do list. When you’re looking for something to do plan the week, the weekend, or the next few days ahead.
Do some meal prep. From creating soups that can be frozen to a spag bowl that could be tomorrow’s lunch at work, do some light meal prep. I find making leek and potato soup very relaxing, and whilst waiting for the vegetables to soften before blending I can cut up some vegetables for a salad as well. In one afternoon I have lunch or dinner for that day as well as lunch and dinner for the next.
Organise your space
Everyone has that little area of their home that needs organizing. For me, it’s the space underneath my coffee table, but sometimes it’s my bookshelves or my desk, or my sideboard. Spend ten to twenty minutes organizing this space so it’s neat, tidy, and easily accessible.
Those are my recommendations for productive things to do when bored. What would you recommend? Let me know in the comments below.
