New Years Resolutions 2022
It’s that time of year when we all look forward to what we want to achieve in the next 365 days. It’s time to make New Years Resolutions 2022.
Usually, I’m a big fan of New Years Resolutions. I can understand why some people aren’t – it can cause pressure, half the time you don’t meet them etc. But I quite enjoy them. It gives me grounding for the year ahead, even if half the time I don’t achieve my goals.
For 2022 I’ve set myself four New Years Resolutions and they’re quite varied across themes of lifestyle, dreams, and career.
Last year my Resolutions were very linked to reading, writing, and fun. This year, they’re related to self-care, my desires, and, as ever, my career.
Read 100 books
Last year I set myself the goal of reading 101 books and I was thinking of increasing to 102, as in 102 books in 2022. But 100 is pressure enough! So I’m going to stick at 100 books and if I hit it great, and if don’t so what. I just love reading.
Develop my Career
This is a bit of an open-ended resolution but I’ve done that on purpose. I’ve been in my current role for 2 and a half years and I’m always looking for ways to develop and learn. I’ve had many conversations in-house about it and I’m eager to put some of those conversations to practice. But I’m also looking to develop my career outside of my 9-5. I’ve done a lot of work on my blog in 2021 and I want to continue that in 2022, plus I’d love to get back into freelance journalism as I’ve missed it over the last two years.
Do at least 50,000 steps a week
I would love to say I would do 10,000 steps a day but that just isn’t feasible. If I go to the office I tend to walk between 8-10k steps a day. But since we’re now hybrid working I only go to the office 2-3 times a week and the rest of the time I work from home. It would be good to have some motivation to get walking.
Experience New Things
Since 2020 began I’ve become a major creature of habit. Or, in my mind, lazy. Due to lockdown(s), we all spent a lot of time indoors. But I’ve been struggling to get out of that routine ever since. No matter what happens in 2022 – whether lockdown returns or we’re limited in terms of travel – I still want to experience new things. Be it taking online courses or classes, or traveling around the UK and visiting friends and family. I just want to get out of the routine I’ve been stuck in for the last two years!
Write another Book
Be it non-fiction or fiction, in 2022 I want to write another book. In 2021, I wasn’t able to get my head down and write, for a variety of reasons. In 2022, I want to let nothing stop me. It may be part of my career now, but it’s also my creative outlet and always has been.
Those are my five New Years Resolutions 2022. What are yours? Let me know in the comments below.
