New Year’s Resolutions 2019

New Year’s Resolutions 2019

So Happy New Year! After a particularly dismal year, I am very happy to step into the New Year and set my New Year’s Resolutions 2019.

I’m sad to say that the first of 2018 for me was pretty awful, due to family drama, illness, and death in the family as well it was a pretty tragic six months. But from June, after an epic birthday, starting therapy and the birth of a new family member things have improved.

I’m glad I can say that I ended the year well, with a promotion at work, in my new flat and with my recovering family.

Nevertheless, it’s time to take a look at last year’s New Year’s Resolutions and set some new ones for 2019.

2018 New Year’s Resolutions

READ 80 BOOKS

Well, I’m glad to say that I SMASHED this resolution and read a total of 92 books. It’s been a good reading year that’s for sure.

GO TO THE GYM AT LEAST 4 TIMES A MONTH

Hahahahaha. Enough said.

SIGN UP FOR ICE SKATING LESSONS

Uh, nope.

CHALLENGE MYSELF

I definitely did this in some ways and definitely didn’t in others. Surprisingly, the times I challenged myself were in the areas of my life I would have least expected it. But when I did challenge myself I can definitively say it worked out for the better.

GO ABROAD

Unfortunately not. I underestimated how much living in London would cost after buying a lot of Christmas presents from Harrods and moving into my own flat.

CROWDFUND MY MR KEATS ON UNBOUND

Sadly, after a few months of trying, I pulled the plug on my Unbound journey. It was too much work for me, along with my career, and my family life at the time and I wasn’t feeling as positive as I needed to in order to succeed. Oh well though, onwards and upwards.

WRITE MORE!

I definitely did this! Even after pulling the plug on My Mr Keats I have started a new novel and edited another one which I’ve received some wonderful feedback from agents. Plus I am now a freelance writer, writing for the Huffington Post, Taylor Magazine, and The F Word.

BLOG AT LEAST 4 TIMES A MONTH

I had a dip in my writing this year, due to the family drama that was going on, but in the times when this wasn’t an issue I managed to get into the groove of posting twice a week on my blog so I’m ticking this resolution off as I feel I achieved what I could.

REACH 2000 TWITTER FOLLOWERS

So close! 1916 followers, as of this moment. Maybe a few more, who knows? But that’s an increase of 300 followers this year and I’m happy with that. Sometimes it’s good not to hit the targets you set, but strive to

Now it’s time to set some goals for 2019. I’m not going to do as many this year I don’t think as I want to see where the year takes me, as it’s the first year where I don’t have much on my to-do this for life.

New Years Resolutions 2019

DEVELOP MY FREELANCE WRITING CAREER

This year I really hope to develop this side of my career. It’s still fairly new since I only started writing for the Huffington Post in August but I’ve loved it and want to take it further. Fingers crossed things go well.

READ 90 BOOKS

After reading over 80 last year, and over 70 the year before, this year I’m aiming to read at least 90 books.

GET AN AGENT

This is a big one, but I’m putting it out into the universe. After writing and sending my second book to agents I’ve once again had some wonderful responses but I’ve yet to find the agent that fits with me. Fingers crossed that 2019 might be the year, with lucky book number three.

TRAVEL

I really want to see more of the world, be it just more of the UK, and so this year I really want to travel. I’ve got my eyes on Amsterdam still, as well as Rome, Newcastle (Hey Michael!), Cumbria, and maybe even Greece. Who knows. I just want to get away a bit.

TAKE RISKS

Everything that’s happened recently, it’s taught me that spontaneity and taking risks is worth it. I wish I were more comfortable with saying yes more than no and trying things I’ve never done before. Maybe 2019 will be that year.

There we have it. My 2019 New Year’s Resolutions. Let’s see how many I can achieve. Let me know what your resolutions are down below! Good luck! And Happy New Year.
