New Years Resolutions 2018
Happy New Year! So long 2017, hello 2018!
It’s time to re-visit my New Years’ Resolutions for 2017 and see what I’ve achieved and set my 2018 resolutions! To see last year’s post click here!
New Years’ Resolutions 2017:
Read 70 books
I read 73 books this year! I am really pleased with myself for achieving this goal and I will be rolling this across to 2018.
Get my Book Published
My novel My Mr Keats is still crowdfunding on Unbound and is currently at 17% funded which isn’t great, but it is a challenge and I have not been in the headspace to do the marketing. There’s still for me to step up on this in 2018.
Say Yes more than No
My rolling resolution. I have always struggled with saying yes more than no but this year I think I have finally achieved this and had a better year because of it. I have had some great nights out, met new people, got new jobs, and picked up lots of new skills because of this resolution.
Go on a Date
I was brave enough to ask a guy out and he said yes and we went out together, but nothing came of it because I don’t think he realised we were on a date. Complicated. And something to work on in the future.
Move Out
In August I moved to London with my best friend and her boyfriend. I have officially moved out and my parents have re-decorated my room so I can’t come back… cheers for that parents 😉
Be Daring
I like to think I’ve achieved this. In May, I got a new job after seeing an opportunity and taking it, and I have tried new things from new foods to social media techniques. I have moved out and been spontaneous whilst on holiday in a foreign country with my best friend. In October I took myself off on holiday on the spur of the moment and I wrote a new novel in 3 weeks. I like this resolution.
Go on Holiday
I kind of spoilt this resolution above but I have been on holiday this year – twice! My best friend and I went to Paris in July for four days and I took myself off to Edinburgh in October for four days as well. Both holidays were great. My best friend and I saw so much art and beautiful architecture in Paris, and also drank copious amounts of prosecco and danced in the rain! And in Edinburgh, I went to every Harry Potter referenced cafe, street, inspiring location etc. And Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood House, and Princes Street. It was fab!
Blogging Goals for 2017:
Gain 1500 Twitter Followers
I have 1613 Twitter followers right now! Woop Woop! Thank you to everyone who has followed me this year!
Grow my Instagram
I managed this for the first half of the year but not the latter half. I would love to get back into photography in 2018 so let’s see where this takes us.
Gain 100 Bloglovin’ Followers
I have 111 Bloglovin’ followers! Thank you to everyone who followed my blog this year 🙂
Take part in a Twitter chat every week
I have failed miserably at this resolution. So much so that I can’t remember the last time I took part. 🙁 I really should get back into it as I have met some lovely bloggers through these chats!
YouTube Channel
Another failure I’m afraid, but one I’ve decided to put aside for 2018. I have a lot going on and I need to focus on myself more than my social media this year.
So that was 2017! Time to set my 2018 New Years’ Resolutions!
New Years Resolutions 2018:
Read 80 Books
For the last 4 years, I have set a reading challenge on Goodreads, and each year, so long as I achieve it, I increase the challenge by ten books. This year I would like to read 80 books.
Go to the Gym at least 4 times a month
I know this is kind of a cliche resolution, but I do have a gym membership and a gym less than a mile away from my flat so I have no excuse for not going. I live in London now, surrounded by buses and tubes, and I’m not a part of a sports club or do any other exercise but I want to stay healthy, and strangely I do enjoy the gym… when I manage to get there.
Sign up for Ice Skating Lessons
I live near an ice skating rink and it has been a dream of mine, ever since I was little, to learn how to ice skate. Also, I recently went to Somerset House with a friend to skate and loved it. I also adore Dancing on Ice on ITV and since it is coming back I can feel myself itching to finally take some lessons!
Challenge myself
One of my kind of ‘hippy’ resolutions is to challenge myself. I want to be able to come away from 2018 thinking that I have tried new things, had new experiences, and made new memories, and not just had a nice year or achieved something at work.
Go abroad
I am going on holiday with friends and family in April but I would really like to go abroad again this year. I have caught the travel bug. Top of my wishlist are Amsterdam, Italy, or Ireland and I would go to at least one of them this year.
Crowdfund My Mr Keats on Unbound
I have already mentioned my novel on Unbound My Mr Keats. However, I did not do well with my crowdfunding last year and I think that had to do with a new job, moving out, and being in a bad headspace from Sept-Nov. I have no excuse in 2018 and since it is a challenge I could even achieve another goal by working on my crowdfunding!
Write more!
I am a writer! And I think forgot that in 2017. Since I finished university in 2016, namely my creative writing course, I have been lacking motivation and inspiration to write and I really want to get back into it because I love it so much!
Blog at least 4 times a month
In the latter months of 2017, I neglected my blog. It’s a real shame as I love what I have achieved on EllesBellesNotebook. I don’t want to give up due to laziness or Netflix binge-watching. It’s time to get back to where I was this time last year!
Reach 2000 Twitter Followers
I currently have 1613 Twitter followers and it would be lovely if by the end of 2018 if I have over 2000 followers.
Well, that’s quite a lot to be getting on with, in 2018 I think.
