My Record Collection | 2022 Edition

For Christmas 2020 my parents bought me a record player and ever since I’ve been growing my record collection. It recently grew quite a lot, with my birthday presents and also the discovery of my parent’s vinyl collection.

I love a good mix of music across the eras, anything from the 1970s to modern music. Not to mention a bit of classical – it’s perfect background music for reading.

My personal record collection

My parent’s record collection

A few months ago my parents were lovely enough to let me go through their personal vinyl collection – although my sister got there first about five years ago. Since my parents no longer have a record player, but they never got rid of their old records, so my sister and now house quite a few.

  • Lovely Day by Bill Withers

  • The Planets by Gustav Holst

  • Rio by Duran Duran

  • The Wild Heart by Stevie Nicks

  • Prince Charming by Adam and the Ants

  • ‘Too-Rye-Ay’ by Dexy’s Midnight Runners

  • Friend or Foe by Adam Ant

  • Chariots of Fire by. Vangelis

  • ‘Under a Blood Red Sky’ Live by U2

  • Eye in the Sky by The Alan Parsons Project

  • Tracy Chapman

  • Goodbye Yellow Brick Road by Elton John

  • Welcome to the Pleasuredome by Frankie Goes To Hollywood

  • Sisters Are Doin’ It by Various Artists

  • The Whole Story by Kate Bush

What records should I get next? There’s a record store in my local town and they stock an array of 1960s-80 records so I feel I might be spending a bit of cash there over the next few months…
