Best Book of 2022
This Much Is True by Miriam Margoyles, – 5 stars – utterly hilarious. I cannot wait for her next memoir in late 2023.
Worst Book of 2022
The Raven Boys by Maggie Steifvater – 1.5 stars – sadly, I could not get into this book.
And that’s my reading analysis for 2022.
Final Thoughts
My reading year analysis for 2022 has definitely made me realise a few things. Firstly, even though I went through a 4 month reading slump from June until October, I actually managed to read quite a lot of books.
My star ratings for this year were quite disappointing. I would rather I was averaging 3.75+ when reading books, but I did read quite a few 2-3 star books in 2022 unfortunately. However, you’ve got to kiss a few frogs to find a prince of a read.
I was surprised by how few physical books I read in 2022. Only 17! Audiobooks are my first format of reading, and this year I re-invested in a BookBeat subscription so I could have more books on the go, but I was surprised that I didn’t read that many physical books bearing in mind I buy and have so many.
2022 really was the year of Memoir. I read about 8 memoirs this year, hence the high number of pages, and I think these were my favourite books of the year. I also read a lot of Children’s books – very unlike me! And, thanks in part to my Bookish Resolution for 2022, I also read a lot more poetry. In 2023, I don’t have a particular genre focus so I’m interested to see what I’ll read.
But that’s my Reading Year Analysis for 2022. What did you read in 2022? What were your favourites of the year, or the biggest surprise? Let me know in the comments below. Happy reading.
