My Most Anticipated Books of 2022
As we approach the end of the year and start looking ahead to 2022, here are my most anticipated books of 2022! These are the books that I’ve added to my Amazon wishlist and cannot wait to read in the New Year.
Elektra by Jennifer Saint – Out 28th April 2022
As readers of my blog will know, I love greek myth retellings! So, of course, I’m very excited to read Elektra by Jennifer Saint. I already have a digital proof and I’ll be dipping in as soon as I can after New Year’s. I really enjoyed her debut novel Ariadne and I can’t wait to see what she does with the character of Elektra.
Double Booked by Lily Lindon – Out 9th June 2022
As soon as I saw ‘cult lesbian pop band’ I was intrigued by this book. The premise is that a bisexual woman called Georgina follows life to the letter with her boring boyfriend and stable social life. But suddenly she discovers a lesbian pop band, Phase, and she reconnects with the side of herself that wants to explore her bisexuality and musical background. Suddenly she’s living life by day as clean-cut Georgina, and life at night as George a lesbian pop band member. Sounds amazing!
Duckling by Eve Ainsworth – Out 26th May 2022
It was the title that drew me to look into Eve Ainsworth’s adult debut. The story follows a woman, nicknamed Duckling, who never really speaks to other people. One day she babysits for her neighbour, but then her neighbour doesn’t come back. Now she has a little person to look after when she can hardly look after herself. Sounds intriguing and heartwarming.
Idol by Louise O’Neill – Out 12th May 2022
I’ve never actually read a book by Louise O’Neill, despite only several copies and only ever heard good things. But they’ve all seemed a bit too dark for me, especially over the last couple of years when I’ve gravitated towards pure escapism. But Idol sounds more like my cup of tea. When an influencer tells a story about a sexual awakening she experienced as a young woman, her old friend gets in touch to say she doesn’t remember it that way at all. And in fact, the truth is a lot darker. But who’s telling the truth?
A Lady’s Guide to Fortune Hunting by Sophie Irwin – Out 12th May 2022
For anyone that loves Bridgerton – the TV series and/or the book series – then this is the book you’ll want to add to your wishlist in 2022. Kitty Talbot needs a fortune – or a husband with a fortune – otherwise, her family will be kicked out of their home. But there’s a man standing in her way, a very attractive man, who can see through her fortune-hunting plans… I wonder what will happen.
People Person by Candice Carty-Williams – Out 28th April 2022
From the author of Queenie, Candice Carty-Williams’ long-awaited second book is out in 2022. I don’t know much about the storyline yet, but I’m intrigued to see what she writes next.
