My Christmas To-Be-Read List 2021
We’re nearly one week down in December, and today I thought I would share my Christmas To-Be-Read List 2021. These are the books I plan to read over Christmas in December 2021.
My best months for reading usually start from December. I don’t know if it’s the colder, dark nights. Or if I just have more time with the Christmas holiday? But I tend to get to quite a few books over the month of December.
It also helps that I’m trying to reach my Goodreads reading goal of reading 101 books by the end of the year. With that in mind though, here are the books on my Christmas To-Be-Read List 2021.
The Choice by Nicholas Sparks
A slightly random one to start, but I’ve been feeling the urge to pick up a Nicholas Sparks book lately. I’m not normally a fan of Christian Romance, but there is something so comforting and easy with these romance novels. They make great reading just before bed, and I love a soft comfort read at that time.
The Women of Troy by Pat Barker
Next up is a Greek Myth retelling. This is the sequel to The Silence of the Girls by Pat Barker, which followed the character of Briseis. Briseis was famously captured in the Trojan Wars, and forced to marry Achilles. This series tells her story from her own voice, and it’s really interesting. In the sequel, the Trojan War is over and Achilles is dead. Briseis is now pregnant and living with her new husband, Alcimus, surrounded by the spoils of war. In her case, surrounded by the Trojan women she used to revere now nothing more than slaves.
The Night Before Christmas by Clement C. Moore
A Christmas tradition of mine is to read the perennial favourite The Night Before Christmas by Clement C. Moore.
A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens
Another Christmas classic I love to re-read, albeit in different formats is A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. This year I’ll be listening to an audiobook version narrated by Hugh Grant.
The Boy Called Christmas by Matt Haig
I previously read The Girl Who Saved Christmas by Matt Haig, which is the second in this trilogy. But I’ve yet to read to the first, which has also been adapted for film. Before I see the movie I’d like to read this book this Christmas. I’ve got the hardback but the audiobook, narrated by Stephen Fry is on Plus Catalogue for free.
