London Memory Walk 2018

London Memory Walk 2018

On the 13th October 2018, I will be taking part in the London Memory Walk 2018. This is a charity event to raise funds and awareness for Alzheimer’s Society.

Last year my Grandad was diagnosed with dementia. Since Christmas 2017 he has been in and out of hospital and care homes, and we are currently awaiting a space to open up in a suitable nursing home to take care of all of his needs.

Grandad

It’s been a tough time for him as well as my family, and it’s still ongoing and will be for some time I imagine.

Where I am walking for the Memory Walk 2018

In aid of the Alzheimer’s Society, I am taking part in the London Memory Walk on 13th October. From 10 am to whenever I finish I am going to be walking 7.5km around London with 110,000 other people.

You can see more about the event, and even register to attend, on the Alzheimer’s Society website now.

Raising Money

I have set up a JustGiving page to raise money for the event: www.justgiving.com/fundraising

My current target is £200 and all the money raised through JustGiving goes directly to the Alzheimer’s Society so they can start spending the money on resources, community events, and raising awareness of the illness immediately.

If you can give even £1 to my JustGiving page it will be appreciated. Whatever you can give may have a significant impact on someone’s life, whether they be a dementia sufferer or a member of their family.

I will be taking photos and sharing my view on my Instagram and Instagram Stories on the day of the walk and I can’t wait to take part. I hope it goes well and I look forward to sharing more details once I’ve completed the walk.

Love Ellie x
