Favourites of the Year: Television

I can’t believe the year is almost up and we’re in December! *GASP* To mark this wonderful month – I love Christmas – I am going to do a round-up of all of my yearly favourites. Starting with my Favourite Television shows of 2018.

Favourite Television Shows

Queer Eye

This year I discovered Tan, Antoni, Karamo, Bobby and Jonathan. Queer Eye has been my definitive favourite TV programme of the entire year. I only watched it in September and have re-watched both series at least three times since then. I love it.

Brooklyn 99

Another favourite I only discovered in 2018. After being badgered by my friends to watch it for the last two years I finally delved in, in March of this year. I binge-watched all five seasons and cannot wait for the next one to come out! Just thank God it wasn’t cancelled!

Once Upon a Time: S7

I stopped watching the last few seasons of Once Upon a Time but got back into it with the final series and actually really enjoyed it. I thought I would hate it since they practically recast the entire show for just this series but actually, it wasn’t bad. It tied itself off well with a really lovely twist to the end. Pretty good send-off.

Anne with an E

I think this is one of the loveliest, most politically correct TV shows out there right now. Netflix’s adaptation of Anne of Green Gables is modern yet still set within its original era. A lovely binge-watch in the Summer.

Night Shift

I’ve always been a fan of shows like Casualty and Holby City so to find a new show like Night Shift was fab. Another Netflix watch this three-series show follows a hospital of predominantly old army medics as doctors in an ER. A proper action-packed, blood-pumping show. Addictive to watch.

The Resident

Another Casualty like show. This American set hospital drama puts a real focus on the USA’s dwindling healthcare system. Both tragic, mysterious and full of amazing characters – including Logan from Gilmore Girls redeeming himself for Gilmore Girls Returns – it’s fab!

Killing Eve

Come on… who didn’t love this show? The first three episodes were killer, no pun intended. The remaining few were a little less powerful but still flipping good. Unique, feminist and fall of funny banter. Can’t wait for season 2.

Clique

Definitely one of my favourite shows out there. This new adult psychological thriller tackles feminism, toxic masculinity, and ‘snowflake’ millennialism all at Edinburgh University. AMAZING!

The Bold Type

As someone that occasionally write for a magazine, is in her twenties and a feminist this is a show that almost feels created for me. I have definitely watched both series of this show at least three times and downloaded the soundtrack to both my phone and iPod. Yes, I still have an iPod.

What television have you been loving in 2018? Let me know in the comments below.
