Christmas Homeware Ideas
Christmas is a time for tacky decorations. But there are tons of other ways you can decorate your home, aside from using copious amounts of tinsel. Here are some Christmas Homeware ideas to give your house the festive feel this Christmas.
Swap out your everyday cushions for some Christmas ones. A simple, cosy and easy way to update your living room this Christmas – particularly in a rental.
Swapping out everyday bedding for seasonal varieties is a favourite of millennials – at least in my anecdotal experience. I fell in love with this 12 Days of Christmas set. It’s so cute and festive. It would make it feel like every morning is Christmas.
I’m a big fan of stags. Not only is Harry Potter’s patronus a stag, but my favourite place is Knole which is a deer park. So I have a strong affiliation with stags, and I love that they’re becoming representative of Christmas.
Unless you have a cat, a poinsettia is a gorgeous Christmas plant to bring into the house. I say ‘unless you have a cat’ as cats are allergic to poinsettia’s. That’s being said, so long as you can keep it out of their reach you’ll be okay. They’re notoriously hard to keep alive, which is why they’re generally only sold at Christmas.
Who doesn’t love candles? To add a bit of festive cheer why not add a tea light holder with a Christmas theme and some Christmas scented candles. It looks great as an table piece.
I’m not a fan of mince pie’s, but I do love this Emma Bridgewater plate. In fact, I love pretty much all of her plates. Very good designer all round.
If candles aren’t your thing – flames can be a tad scary – I recommend trying a diffuser instead. My favourite Christmas scent is cranberries, but I also like apple and spice so this diffuser is amazing.
We all decorate our interiors but tend to neglect our house exteriors – unless you go all out with Christmas lights. This isn’t possible with rentals, but a simple doormat is!
And finally, add another cushion! You can never have enough Christmas cushions.
