A Christmas Book List

I work in publishing, I read 90+ books a year, and I love Christmas books! So, of course, I have to create a Christmas Book List for Blogmas.

A Christmas Book List

A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens

An absolute classic, and one that I read every year. I have a gorgeous copy of this book that was produced in the early 1900s and it’s got the original illustrations in it. This is the ultimate story of morals, with a gorgeous cast and the best array of movie adaptations ever. Well worth a read, as well as a watch though.

The Night Before Christmas by Clement C. Moore

This is a gorgeous poem that makes me feel a little bit of magic every Christmas Eve when I choose to read it. It’s a sweet classic and one that is perfect for reading to the kids the night before Christmas as the title suggests. If you haven’t read it, do it this year. Such a beautiful poem/book.

The Girl Who Saved Christmas by Matt Haig

I read this book about two/three years ago, and have since been lucky enough to receive the complete series from Matt, signed and with personal illustrations by the amazing illustrator – Chris Mould – of the books. If you’re looking for a new Christmas read then these books are perfect escapist, festive reads.

Father Christmas by Raymond Briggs

From the writer of The Snowman comes Father Christmas, a look into the mindset of Father Christmas in the run-up to Christmas.

Little Women by Louisa May Alcott

Is one of my favourite classics of all time. Who can’t fall in love with the March sisters? They’re glorious! And Jo is goals. But, I include it in this list because of the lovely Christmas chapter, where the sisters buy presents for their mother rather than themselves, even though they’ve spent years going without. It captures the true spirit of Christmas.

We Met in December by Rosie Curtis

Now, if you’re more of a contemporary romance fan then I have the books for you. We Met in December is a gorgeous romance set in London, starting at Christmas and going all the way through the year until the next Christmas. What would happen if you missed the love of your life? It’s a love story with London as well as a heart, Christmas romance.

Do you have a favourite Christmas read? Let me know in the comments below, I love a good Christmas read.
