Bookish Resolutions for 2024

I debated whether or not to do a post on my Bookish Resolutions for 2024. But I’m such a list-lover I decided to continue with the tradition. This is the post where I share my reading goals for 2024.

I’m not going to recap 2023’s goals as I didn’t achieve many and I want 2024 to be much more relaxed when it comes to my reading goals. No pressure, just fun.

Bookish Resolutions for 2024

Read 52 Books

For the last three years, I’ve set a reading goal of ‘Read 100 Books’, but in 2024 I’m going to relax that goal to 52 books. One book for each week of the year. I’m still averaging about 80-90 books a year, currently, but that usually comes about with a lot of 30 Books in 30-Day challenges and binge-reading. In 2024, I want to permit myself to fall into a book head-first and not rush.

Read a Classic

Much like the above, I usually set more specific and numbered rules like ‘read 3 classics from the 18th century’. However, in 2024 I just want to read at least one classic.

Read 26 new authors

Given that I’m only aiming to read 52 books in 2024, and any more than that is a plus, I’d like at least half of the books I read in 2024 to be new authors. This is a goal I find relatively easy to achieve as I tend to read a lot of debuts, but it’s also a great way to diversify my reading.

Read books from 5 different countries

In 2023, I managed to read 14 books from different countries, and I’d love to try the same again.

Spend a weekend reading

Whether this is a weekend spent at home, the spa, on trains or just listening to audiobooks whilst I clean the house, I’d love a proper reading weekend in 2024. It’s all about finding the time to fall into a book for the pleasure of reading.

And there we have it. Those are my relaxed Bookish Resolutions for 2024. What bookish resolutions do you have for 2024? Let me know in the comments below.
