Halloween is fast approaching and if you haven’t got your costume ready yet, here are some Bookish Halloween costume ideas to help you out.

Bookish Halloween Costume Ideas

Hermione Granger (Harry Potter)

An easy costume, for fans of the Harry Potter series. Any of the girls – Ginny, Luna, or Cho – also apply. You only need a grey skirt and cardigan, a white shirt, and purchase your preferred Harry Potter house tie online. Carry some books and a wand – again easily purchased online – to complete the look. Simple.

Katniss Everdeen (Hunger Games)

For another easy and affordable outfit, you just need some grey or grey cargo trousers, a black shirt, and a black zip-up hoodie. Do a side plait and if have an archery bow nearby, that will pull together the ensemble.

Madeline (Madeline)

I loved Madeline as a child – particularly the film, but the book is great too. All you need to achieve a Madeline look is a bright blue mini-dress, a red scarf, long white socks, black sandals, and a small beach hat – preferably in a bowler style.

Mary Poppins (Mary Poppins)

For a classic look, why not give Mary Poppins a go. You’ll need a thick black skirt – kind of 50s style – with black tights and sensible black shoes. A high-necked and long-sleeve white shirt, with a red bow tie and a red belt – a ribbon with doing. Complete the look with a small black hat (with a flower), a black umbrella, and a handbag.

Violet Beauregarde (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory)

Paint yourself purple – easier said than done – add a red ribbon to your hair, find a purple dress, purple tights, and purple shoes. To go all out, add some chewing gum, and away you go.
