Best Beach Books for 2021
If you’re heading abroad this summer or simply down your local beach, here are the best beach books for 2021 to pack in your bag!
Beach is in the name! This romantic comedy is set in the US and follows two writers who were on the same course. One is dealing with the grief of losing a parent, and the other is the grief of an ended relationship. They decide to swap genres with one another – so he writes romance and she writes literary – and a relationship blossoms from there. Got to love a good enemies to lovers trope.
I’ve yet to read Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid, but I can’t wait. After reading Daisy Jones and the Six and then The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo I’m excited about anything she writes. From what I hear this is a definite beach read though – music, 1980s, sunny beach-covered California? Yes!
If you’re after a holiday then travel to Australia in this hilarious feel-good read about a woman ditched on her wedding day, who takes the honeymoon anyway. There’s a gorgeous relationship between two old friends as well – and some funny antics regarding a dog. What’s not to love.
If you’re a thriller lover – and love a bit of a beach read with a twist – then I recommend Stolen. Recommending this as a beach read, is a bit like recommending watching Snakes on a Plane, on a plane! This thriller takes place at a beach wedding when a little girl is taken. The ending will make your jaw-drop. Just saying…
Another thriller I’ve heard amazing things about is this small-town mystery. Two friends go out and only one returns. The small town is a tinderbox just waiting to explode and this missing girl is the match that lights the spark.
I’ve already mentioned how much I enjoyed Daisy Jones and the Six and nearly all of my friends have told me to pick up The Idea of You as a result. I’ve done just that and I’m looking forward to diving in. This beach read has a music theme, once again! The leading man of a chart-topping boyband and one of his devoted female fans accidentally meet… what happens next is a rollercoaster of emotions, secrecy, and childhood-fantasies-come-true!
And finally, if I may be so bold, my book is out now! If you enjoy stories that follow relatable women going through terrible (yet funny!) times with friends and a love interest of two, then this might be the book for you.
