Top 5 Favourite Podcasts

One of the newest things I’ve got into in 2017 is podcasts! I never used to listen to them before but I’ve recently started listening to them on the commute and when I’m at my desk at weekends.

Most of the podcasts I listen to are related to books and book discussions, but they’re also related to writing, feminism and general news topics as well.

Here are my top 5 favourite podcasts to listen to:

Emma Gannon’s Ctrl Alt Del

This was the first podcast I started to listen to and I am glad to say I have made my way through the whole collection. The first 20 or so aren’t of the best quality, compared to her later ones, but they’re thoroughly enjoyable and really fascinating to listen to. Mainly focusing on the topics of social media, with a few that are recorded at events, the podcasts are brilliant and informative. Some also cover topics of feminism, which I am really interested in.

I recommend you listen to:

Jen Campbell ‘Books with Jen’

I love Jen Campbell as a writer, booktuber, blogger and now podcaster. She does lengthy, occasional, podcasts covering multiple things in each episode. From discussions with authors, fellow booktubers and other people within the publishing interesting. Jen, as a person, is really interesting to me and she and I hold very similar views and I like to listen to her take on things.

I recommend listening to:

  • Episode 3: Interview with Janet Ellis and Holly Burrows

Vintage

Vintage is an imprint of Penguin Random House and a brilliant publisher of fiction. I’ve recently discovered their podcast which covers topics from feminism to writing as well as audiobook snippets of recently released books. I work in publishing and I love books so this was an obvious choice for my podcast favourites!

I recommend listening to:

  • FEMINISM ft. The Vagenda

What Should I Read Next

An American podcast, this podcast answers it’s titular question: What Should I Read Next. The podcaster Anne Bogel has guests on her podcast to discuss multiple books about a theme or a world event, or simply what they’ve recently read. She then gets them to pitch the book, in a way, to suggest to readers what book they should read next. As well as discussing the books that they’re going to read and why. It’s a virtual book club for any avid reader.

I recommend listening to:

  • Ep 53: The Best Females in Literature (with Jenny Williams)

BookSlam

Bookslam is a regular event that occurs in London where writers come together to perform some of their work to an audience. It is also a musical event and was previously attended by Adele before she got big and famous (she was lovely apparently). The podcasts are recordings of the readings with up to 5 guests per each. It’s a really lovely way to discover new writers and to listen to some of our favourite writers read their work.

I recommend listening to:
