New Year’s Resolutions | 6 months on
We are 6 months on from New Years – and 149 days until Christmas 2016 – and I thought I would have a look at my New Year’s Resolutions and basically see how I’ve been doing!
Here is a reminder of what my New Year’s Resolutions were:
1. Save for New York Holiday
2. Begin to save money for moving out
3. Pass University with a high 2:1
4. Read 60 books
5. Say Yes more than No!
6. Find a job after University
7. Submit more writing to publications/competitions
8. Pass Driving Test
Wow! I’ve not actually done that bad! Yippee.
In June 2016 my New Year’s Resolutions look like this:
I have saved for New York! I had my birthday last – see previous post for more on that – and I was a very fortunate young lady and my bank balance for New York is looking very healthy right now J
As I said in my New Year’s post it is unlikely I’ll be able to save to move out until after New York but I am thinking about it.
I had a meeting with the bank yesterday to open a savings account and the cashier was lovely but told me the story of her life – she’s 30 and had to move back in with her parents because she rented rather than bought and now she can’t afford to buy…
I’m already living at home…so I want to start saving but I need to get a full-time/permanent job first and then consider whether to rent or buy first.
I have passed University! And with a first! There was a bit of broo-ha-ha to begin with – as I got marked down for something which I shouldn’t have done, which dropped my grade to a 2:1 (not that that was really a problem but still) I got it sorted and I now officially have a First-class degree in History and Creative Writing!
So far this year I have read: 36 books! I am well over halfway towards my goal of 60 books! I can’t wait to see what other great books I’ll get to read this year.
Say Yes more than No…definitely the hardest New Year’s Resolution and probably the one I’m failing at the most.
The biggest time I should have said ‘Yes’ and not ‘No’ was when a guy literally turned his car around in the middle of the street in order to ask me out and I said No…why! He was 28 and although lovely, and pretty hot, I got a bit nervous. Damn! Oh well…
Find a Job after University…Computer says no. Well…it says yes, actually, but not the jobs I want right now. I’m fussy.
I have been submitting more writing – I submitted my novel and had 3 agents interested – yes three! Big name agents as well – but unfortunately whilst all enjoyed it, it wasn’t ultimately meant to be! Sad Face. Oh well, if 3 agents can enjoy it, it’s just onwards and upwards. I am only 21 so it’s not the end of the world.
I HAVE PASSED MY DRIVING TEST!
|No more of this!|
Yes, a New Year’s Resolution I can resolutely cross off and completed. I passed in February, first-go with only one minor. Woo. Prideful moment I’ve got to say.
Well…that’s not so bad. I feel good about what I’ve done in the last 6 months, I’ve just got to continue on this goods streak now.
Let me know how you’re doing with your New Year’s Resolutions! And if you’ve lapsed in completing them you’ve still got 6 months peeps!
