My Most Anticipated Reads of 2018
I am not normally one to do these kinds of posts, mostly because I rarely ever read books when they’re newly released – I tend to read them before they’re released via NetGalley – or I read books randomly depending on what I fancy reading at the time.
But in 2018 there are several books I am anticipating reading and I can’t wait to get my hands on them and dive in!
The Hangman by Daniel Cole
I loved Ragdoll by Daniel Cole, it was a gritty, incredibly clever and gripping police procedural thriller with fantastic characters and a brilliant plot! I read it about 18 months ago, way before it was released, and I have been waiting for the sequel ever since. It has recently been put onto NetGalley, for request, and of course, I jumped straight on that but we’ll see what happens. The second I do get my hands on that book though I will be dropping everything to read it.
Prosecco and Promises by A.L. Michael
This is actually one of the books my company, Canelo, is publishing in February. It is the second book in The Martini Club series by A.L. Michael, but it is eligible to read as a standalone. It is a gorgeous women’s fiction novel set in Iscia, Italy, full of romance, family and incredibly poignant themes. The main character – Mia – is flipping awesome as well! I have read an early version of the book, but I can’t wait to read the finished copy and tell you guys all about it as it is truly stunning and leaves you with all the feels! Out 12th February 2018.

What Fresh Hell by Lucy Vine
I read Hot Mess by Lucy Vine last year and kind of had mixed feelings but it did leave me wanting to read more by Lucy Vine and this year her second book is being released. This book focuses on Lilah who has a messed up family and who’s best friend is getting married – along with everyone else she knows. This book is basically about weddings and what it is like being a bridesmaid to your best friend when she turns bridezilla. Out 8th March 2018.
Dear Mrs Bird by AJ Pearce
Everywhere I look on Twitter I see somebody talking about Dear Mrs Bird and not only does it make think – Wow! What a great publicity team – but also I really want to read this book! It sounds like just my cup of tea. In London, during WWII, Emmeline Lake dreams of being a war correspondent but accidentally becomes an agony aunt instead. Soon she is reading harrowing tales of grief and loneliness. Forbidden to respond in the magazine she works for, she takes it upon herself to write replies in secret. Sounds beautiful to me. Out 5th April 2018.
The Toymakers by Robert Dinsdale
Another book I have heard fantastic things about, and the cover! Oh my god, the cover is gorgeous. The speculative story is set in 1917 in a toy shop in London, where the toys seem to come to life and fit the owner perfectly. When young Cathy runs away and finds herself in the store, the toy shop takes her in and makes her ‘one of them’. Sounds brilliant. Out 8th Feb 2018
So these are my most anticipated books of 2018, so far. There will be more as the year progresses but right now these are the books I will be talking about and reading as soon as possible!
