I’m a London Book Fair Trailblazer 2020
At the beginning of the year I was nominated for a London Book Fair Trailblazer award, as one of thirty one nominees. The Trailblazer awards are to celebrate under 30-year-old publishing professionals who are roaring through their 20s.
The nominees include professionals from all across the publishing spectrum. From interns to CEO’s, those in editorial, marketing and sales all the way to video content producers, consultants and booksellers.
The awards have been running since 2016 and I was lucky enough to be nominated in 2019 and to win one of five trailblazer awards in 2020!
Nominees and Winners
It was an absolute honour to be nominated alongside so many talented people. So to win was incredible!
Alongside me, this talented bunch were also named Trailblazers 2020:
- Beth Farrell, Marketing Assistant, Blackwells
- Gauthier Van Malderen, Founder and CEO, Perlego Ltd
- Harriet Egleton, Senior Literary Scout, Daniela Schlingmann Literary Scouting
- Madgalene Abraha, Editorial Manager, A Quick Ting On / Jacaranda
All of whom are brilliant at what they do, and their achievements in the last year are utterly remarkable.
To be a Trailblazer is a massive achievement, and one that I’m very proud of and extremely excited about!
London Book Fair
As part of the prize for winning a Trailblazer, I’m going to be speaking on a panel at the London Book Fair with the other winners and will also record a winner to be screened before the fair begins. If you’re attending on the day that I will be there please come and say hello! If you can find me… it’s one massive venue after all.
One last thing
I am happy to say that I nominated myself, as I know several of my fellow nominees, and indeed some of my winners did also.
Self-nomination is in no-way arrogant and I want to reiterate this to all the people who didn’t realise that they were able to self-nominate for an LBF Trailblazer Award. There’s always next year.
Just remember, if you’re not going to blow your own trumpet, who will?
