It’s time for my January Favourites! You’re going to hear this a lot but…I can’t believe it’s the end of January already! That’s incredible! Christmas and New Year’s seems ages ago!
Particularly since I’ve been enjoying so many new things this month!
I have a ton of Favourites this month! I even had to cut some down to fit them all in! But because there are so many I’m just going to jump in.
Not a new favourite really. But I’ve got a new Bullet Journal! I’ve gone for a minimalist theme this time around and been loving it! Compared to my last journal it’s a lot and easier to use on a daily basis!
After saying I don’t like hype and that I wasn’t fussed about Hamilton I’ve gone and listened to the soundtrack and NOW see what the fuss is about. Oh my god. It’s so good! I’m still not ‘addicted’ to it, but I may have queued for tickets on Monday (gave up after 20 minutes though! £89 a ticket!) Favourite song: The Schuyler Sisters! Work!
This month has been fab for my blogging habits! Not least because I went self-hosted, transferred my blog to WordPress and really just started again! Yippee! Now I’ve even moved my Book Blog to this blog too! Exciting times ahead!
I finally got a decent camera! It’s a Canon EOS 1300D and it’s beautiful. It also takes beautiful photos. I am a complete amateur when it comes to photography & I’ve got a lot to learn but it’s been great so far!
Following on from my camera favourite…I have also recently become addicted to Instagram! I’m now posting daily – normally two times a day! And I’m having great fun editing my photos on Polarr and posting them! It’s slightly addictive and its great to see my Instagram following growing daily! It’s also great to interact with, and find, new bloggers across Instagram too! Come over and say hi!!
A new addiction is Emma Gannon’s ‘Ctrl Alt Delete’ Podcasts. She posts regular 30-60 minute podcasts with up-and-coming artists, writers, actors and others! Mostly discussing social media and the effects it has had on the guests lives as well as other interesting topics! My favourite podcasts include Emma’s discussions with: Mara Wilson, Laura Bates, Laurie Penny & Nikesh Shukla!
I am really interested in self-development and learning this year! Since I’ve left education I’ve found it difficult to learn new things – hence I am reading so much non-fiction and now watching documentaries constantly! I don’t to stop learning, I want to learn new things daily! I grant you some of these aren’t ‘educational’ – For the Love of Spock, Five Years of David Bowie – but they’re cultural! I will be doing a blog post on my favourite Netflix documentaries soon so watch out for that!
I’ve tried to join as many twitter chats as possible this month! They’re so much fun, a great way to wind down and be inspired. I always aim to take part in #TheGirlGang chat on Monday’s at 6pm as well as the #BloggerationChat on Sunday’s at 9:30am! But there are so many great chats! It’s a fab way to meet other bloggers and support each other!
The Society of Young Publishers
This is an odd favourite but this month I joined the Society of Young Publishers (SYP). It is a society for anyone with less than 10 years’ experience in publishing (any age!) who is interested in starting their career. I attended the SYP Annual General Meeting and I met a lot of wonderful people who are working in the same industry as myself! If you’re interested in publishing I highly suggest you check them out! They’re lovely, and it’s a great platform for starting your career!
Emerald City (TV Show)
I love Wizard of Oz. I really do. The book, most of the Wizard of Oz re-tellings and now there’s a new one in the form of a TV show! Emerald City has been described as the Game of Thrones meets Wizard of Oz crossover that no one asked for! Yet it’s fabulous! I highly recommend it! I love the cast, the costumes and the story is really unique and colourful!
That’s 10 favourites! An odd number but I don’t mind! There were so many this month! It’s been a somewhat good month – surprising as I don’t think I’ve done much!
Hopefully, I find as many favourites in February! Let’s wait and see!
