Christmas Themed Self-Care
Christmas is a stressful time of year, and this year is like no other. Self-care is going to be paramount and so, here are my top tips for some Christmas themed self-care.
Christmas Bath Bombs
If you have a bath then treat yourself to some Christmas bath bombs from LUSH or The Body Shop. Sometimes a luxurious bath is all you need to unwind or to focus on yourself for a little while. I tend to give myself an hour to soak and do a proper skincare routine, from top to bottom. Put some music on and add in some candles and you’ve got a perfect meditative activity planned.
Listen to your body
If you’re hungry, then eat. If you feel full, stop eating. If you’re tired, take a nap. If you’re bored, do something. Christmas is a time for us to get into routines and to feel like we have to follow along with traditions, but it is just like any other time. Don’t ignore your body for the sake of keeping up traditions or keeping face.
Socialise as much as possible, or as much as you want
Christmas this year is likely to be quite different from any other kind of Christmas. However, we should still reach out and socialise as much as we can. But, where you don’t want to socialise then don’t! But don’t alienate yourself. If you can’t see people then phone them, email them, write them or get on Zoom. It’s entirely possible to be social even when you’re stuck inside or limited to a particular number of visitors.
Focus on the New Year
Whether you like or dislike Resolutions, this is still a good month to focus on yourself and what you want from next year. Finger crossed 2021 will be better than 2020 and offer us more opportunities to live our lives again. Start planning now.
You don’t need to go for a run everyday or do pilates at home, but going for a stroll after lunch or doing some stretches after you wake up is better than nothing. A bit of exercise can refresh you, and also give you an excuse to get out of the house.
I hope everyone has a lovely Christmas, and it isn’t too stressful. But if it is, and you need a break then take it. If you have any other self-care tips let me know in the comments below.
