Best TV Shows to Watch During Self Isolation
We’re deep into self isolation right now and many of us are turning to our TVs and phones for escape. As such, I thought I would share my thoughts on the best TV shows to watch during self isolation.
Normal People (BBC)
Everyone is raving about this series on BBC3, and rightly so. It’s beautiful. One of the best adaptations of a book I’ve ever seen. It’s taken a book where very little happens and added such depth, with perfect casting and complete understanding of the text. It’s ethereal, raw and honest. I loved every second.
Killing Eve (BBC)
Villanelle is back! I’m saving this up so I can binge-watch it in one go, but I do love this satirical, dark comedy thriller series. Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh are fabulous.
The Last Kingdom (Netflix)
I’ve been watching The Last Kingdom for years but I would say that the most recent series, series 4, is by far the best. Follow Uthred of Bebbanburg on his journey through Saxon vs Viking times in England. It fills a Game of Thrones hole with some interesting historical details and great casting.
Unforgotten (ITV and Netflix)
This ITV police series is one of the best they’ve ever created. It focuses on cold cases. The first series is by far the strongest, but the following two are very good. When new evidence comes to light on cold cases (usually remains are found thirty years later), Detectives Cassie and Sunny have to interview people who have all long since moved on with their lives. It’s fascinating, with stories that are not easy to guess the ending of.
Life in Pieces (Amazon Prime)
If you need a laugh, and who doesn’t, then this is sitcom family series on Amazon Prime is perfect. Think Modern Family but funnier, in my opinion. The relatable scenarios and skits that occur always have me belly-laughing.
RuPaul’s Drag Race (Netflix)
It wouldn’t be a TV blog post if I didn’t mention RuPaul’s Drag Race. We all need drag queens and comedy in our lives right now, and series 12 is not disappointing us! Watch all 12 series on Netflix now.
Queer Eye (Netflix)
Whenever I’m having a down day I always return to Queer Eye. Tan, Jonathan, Bobby, Antoni and Karamo cheer me up whenever I see them. Sweet, funny and light-hearted. Love it! When is series 5 coming??
Teen Wolf (Netflix)
Recently I decided to re-watch the Teen Wolf series and I forgot just how much I used to love this series. Particularly Stiles! It’s funny and dramatic, full of hot shirtless men and is pure background viewing right now. Great if you need a fun distraction.
Outlander (Amazon Prime)
And lastly, Outlander series 5 is nearly over and we’ll be back to Drought-lander soon. A time-travel Scottish romance… yeah, what’s not to love?
